  • Paralimni: the nearest town to the hotel is Paralimni.  Paralimni, which in English means ‘lakeside’, was named after a seasonal lake which is formed west of the community, between Paralimni and the village of Sotiras. This area has the lowest altitude in the entire region. It is a natural concavity in which rainfall is gathered from all areas of Paralimni and the surrounding hills. Hence, in every winter, the waters form a lake which is maintained until summer time.

Paralimni is the largest community of the rich plain mostly known by the name ‘Kokkinochoria’, which is located on the south-east edge of Cyprus. The plain was named ‘Kokkinochoria’ (Red Villages) because of the distinctive reddish colour of its soil.

Take the chance to see the twin aisled vaulted church, dedicated to Virgin Mary and is decorated with unusual 18th century porcelain plates. Parts of the church belong to the 13th century. Many more small interesting churches can be seen around Paralimni.

  • Prophet Elias Church: Venturing into the tourist area of Protaras, we come across the chapel of Prophet Elias. It is built on a granite hill with almost vertical sides. In order to reach the chapel, one has to climb a set of 153 stone-built steep stairs, but once you get there, the view is mesmerising and a very popular spot to watch the sunset.  The church is even more spectacular when it is lit up at night.

Although the church was rebuilt in the 1980’s, the interior is truly remarkable with classic icons common in Greek Orthodox churches.  Outside the church is a tree of remembrance where tying something to the tree marks remembrance of a loved one.

  • Cape Greco: Approximately 4km to the south of Protaras centre, the rocky coast of Cape Greco marks lands’ end at the southeast tip of the island.

It lies between the towns of Ayia Napa and Protaras, both of which are popular tourist resorts. It is frequently visited by many tourists for its natural beauty. It is a protected nature park. From the high points on the cliff that rests at the cape one can view amazing sights out to sea.

Walk up to the cliffs that of Cape Greko and you can see the amazing Mediterranean sea all around. The beautiful waters surrounding the area have made it a huge draw for scuba divers. People are also known to dive from the cliffs at Cape Greko.
Cape Greko has magnificent sea cliffs and some amazing plant life.

  • Thalassa Museum: Located at the centre of Agia Napa, the presence of the Museum in its multi-purpose design serves to display sea artifacts, host symposia, corporate events and concerts, traveling art exhibitions, and to conduct a variety of entertaining, scholarly and educational programmes where the audiences could actively participate.

The main highlight of the Museum, it is the “Kerynia II”, a life-size replica of the ancient ship “Kyrenia”. The “Kyrenia Ship” is a Mediterranean trading ship, which it was built in the early 4th century B.C. and is the oldest Greek vessel ever discovered. Andreas Kariolou who was seeking for sponges accidentally discovered it, in 30-meter-deep waters off the coast of the town Kyrenia on Cyprus in 1967. Among the cargo recovered were approximately 400 amphorae for wine and olive oil carrying, and for the storage of almonds.

Another attraction of the Museum is an exact replica of a Mesolithic (9200 B.C.) papyrus raft, which was used in antiquity to transport obsidians from Greek islands into the mainland. The location will also house a varied collection of statues, idols and vases covering the different historical periods of Cyprus (9000 B.C. to 1878 A.D.).
Furthermore, the museum hosts pale-ontological exhibits, which include fossilised fishes, shells, corals, ammonites and stuffed sea animals such as fishes, mammals, turtles, seal, corals, sea-urchins, starfish, sponges, marine plants and others found in various parts of the island.

An attractively designed cafeteria, a gift shop, an open air amphitheatre for the summer that serves the community for concerts, dances and other cultural performances; and a multipurpose hall for periodic shows, educational programmes, lectures, seminars and workshops, supplement this contemporary Municipal museum complex.

The museum is open in the summer from 9.00 hours to 13.00 hours and then again from 18.00 hours to 22.00 hours Tuesday to Sunday. On Saturday it is open 9.00 hours to 13.00 hours. During winter the museum is closed on Sunday.Tuesday to Saturday it is open 9.00 hours to 17.00 hours and on Monday 9.00 hours to 13.00 hours

  • Ayia Napa monastery: Ayia Napa, once a small fishing village, and now the clubbing capital of the island, is home to one of the oldest buildings on the island. This charming medieval monastery, dedicated to ''Our Lady of the Forests''offers its visitors a view of the 16th century church partially underground, cut into the rock. The hostel, west of the church, belongs to the world council of churches. The ancient sycamore tree, found in front of the south gate, is believed to be 600 years old.

The monastery was restored in 1950 and in 1978.  Now it has become an Ecumenical Conference Centre serving churches in Cyprus and the Middle East. A new church built in 1994 south-west of the monastery is also dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

During the summer months, the monastery is open from 09.30 – to 21.00 hrs and during the winter, from 09.30 – 15.00 hrs.

  • Dherynia: The village of Dherynia Dherynia is situated a little way out of Protaras close to the town of Paralimni. Dherynia has three interesting churches featuring excellent icons dating back to the 15th century. The view from the village includes the "ghost" city of Famagusta, now under occupation by the Turkish army. The Deryneia Folk  Art Museum is also a major attraction in the area and is a very popular venue for weddings for couples who wants to have a wedding in a traditional Cyprus theme.

The indoor and outdoor areas, as well as, the exhibitions with the different household items and farming tools show how functional the Cypriot, traditional house use to be. All items have been kindly donated by the residents of Deryneia and other neighbouring areas. The presence of Mrs. Margarita and Mr. Varnavas Hadjiliassi give life to the place and are happy to give tours of the museum.

  • Sotira Village: Sotira, is once again a small village, with two very interesting churches, one being the Agios Georgios church, an early Christian basilica with three aisles.

  • Liopetri village: Liopetri is a village famous for its basket making techniques. Today the tradition continues and visitors to the village have the opportunity to see how cane baskets are constructed. Potamos Liopetriou is a picturesque fishing refuge with the remains of a Venetian watch tower nearby. The French poet, Arthur Rimbaud, worked in this area in 1880.
